2017A is a metal material of aluminum alloy and duralumin series, mainly used in rivets, general mechanical parts, aircraft, ships, transportation, building structures, etc.
It is the earliest application of duralumin, which is generally called standard duralumin. It has medium strength. It has good plasticity in annealed, freshly quenched and hot conditions. It can be heat treated and strengthened. It can be used in quenched and natural aging conditions. It has good spot weldability. , There is a tendency to crack during gas welding and argon arc welding; the aluminum-clad sheet has good corrosion stability. Machinability is good in the quenched and aging state, but poor in the annealed state.
The alloy element in 2017A is copper, which is the first 2-series alloy to be industrially applied. It has high strength and good cutting performance, but it has poor corrosion resistance. Mainly used in rivets, general machinery parts, aircraft, ships, transportation, building structures, transportation tool structures, propeller components and accessories.

Heat treatment
1) Homogenization annealing: heating at 480~495℃; heat preservation for 12~14h; furnace cooling.
2) Complete annealing: heating 390~430℃; holding time 30~120min; air cooling.
3) Rapid annealing: heating 350~370℃; holding time 30~120min; air cooling.
4) Quenching and aging: quenching at 495~510℃, water cooling; artificial aging at 155~165℃, 6~10h, air cooling; natural aging: room temperature 96h.
